Sneak Peek
“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same… If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.”
Synopsis
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is a dark and stormy tale of passion, revenge, and the destructive power of love set on the wild Yorkshire moors. The story follows the lives of two families: the Earnshaws of Wuthering Heights and the Lintons of Thrushcross Grange.
At its centre is the fierce and all consuming love between Heathcliff, an orphan taken in by the Earnshaw family, and Catherine Earnshaw, his fiery and headstrong match. Their love is forbidden but also flawed by betrayal and pride. When Catherine chooses to marry Edgar Linton for status Heathcliff becomes consumed by revenge and inflicts suffering on both families for generations.
Told through the eyes of tenant Mr Lockwood and housekeeper Nelly Dean this is a gothic tale of love, hate, social class, and the past that won’t let go. The atmosphere and characters are haunting.
