Sneak Peek
..he thundered over the resounding planks; he gained the opposite side; and now Ichabod cast a look behind to see if his pursuer should vanish, according to rule, in a flash of fire and brimstone. Just then he saw the goblin rising in his stirrups, and in the very act of hurling his head at him. Ichabod endeavored to dodge the horrible missile, but too late. It encountered his cranium with a tremendous crash,—he was tumbled headlong into the dust, and Gunpowder, the black steed, and the goblin rider, passed by like a whirlwind.
Synopsis
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving is a classic American gothic tale set in the quiet, eerie village of Sleepy Hollow, known for its superstitions and ghostly legends. The story follows Ichabod Crane, a lanky and superstitious schoolteacher, who vies for the affections of Katrina Van Tassel, the beautiful daughter of a wealthy farmer. However, his rival, the burly and mischievous Brom Bones, also seeks Katrina’s hand.
One fateful autumn night, after attending a party at the Van Tassel estate, Ichabod rides home through the dark woods. He encounters the terrifying figure of the Headless Horseman, a ghostly rider said to haunt the area in search of his lost head. The Horseman pursues Ichabod in a spine-chilling chase, and by morning, Ichabod has mysteriously disappeared…
